Description:Objectives of this Role
- Main point of contact representing the engineering department
during build, commissioning, startup, and iFAT (Phase 5) acting as
the liaison between engineering and operations departments.
- Minimize the post release mechanical engineering hours for each
job through focused efforts.
- Provide constructive feedback to design team both during the
project (if urgent) as well as after shipment.
- Develop and implement processes that improve manufacturing
production, decrease engineering time required, and deliver quality
outputs.
- Meet Schneider's quality standards while maintaining working
knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices.
- Develop, train, and educate engineers, assemblers, and
electricians and act as a liaison between engineers and other
ancillary teams.
Responsibilities
- Ensure projects hold their initially scheduled milestones
including build complete, commissioning, startup, and iFAT (Phase
5).
- Interface between engineering and operations during build,
commissioning, startup, and iFAT (Phase 5).
- Develop design change process post release. Process should
define when design changes can occur without notice independently
vs. when to pull in design team for decision making.
- Conduct engineering evaluations (Mechanical Scorecard) of
in-process projects to assure alignment with design standards and
customer satisfaction.
- Assist operations with the formation of build plans for each
project.
- Develop system that allows Schneider to track design flaws.
System to include root cause analysis.
- Pareto design flaws and provide usable data to prioritize
resolutions of flaws for product development and design teams.
- Organize and/or facilitate technical training for engineers and
assemblers.
- Attend all iFAT and machine beatup sessions as subject matter
expert from the mechanical perspective.
Duties
- Lead mechanical engineering activities to successful execution
of assigned project deliverables for projects in build,
commissioning, startup, and iFAT (Phase 5).
- Ensure projects hold their initially scheduled milestones

- Interface between engineering and operations during build,
commissioning, startup, and iFAT (Phase 5).

- Utilize established design standards and work methods to
produce solutions that meet requirements.
- Complete assigned standard templates, tools, and training
initiatives. Ensure the continuity of standards across the
company.
- Make project assignments and startup plans to ensure successful
execution of project requirements.
- Provide information/direction to manufacturing and service
departments as required.
- Review new technologies and ability to provide schedule impact
when applying these technologies to product life cycle.
- Conduct communication in a manner that assures clarity and
understanding.
- Travel required may include field support for customers to
ensure satisfactory operation of machines, vendor support, training
and/or trade show support. Approximately 10-25%. Must maintain
valid enhanced driver's license and/or passport for travel.
- Build professional skill through continued training, education,
and networking events.
Requirements:Skills and Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, AS in Mechanical, or equivalent
experience
- 7+ years of experience in a design-build manufacturing
environment as an engineer with management responsibilities.
- Advanced 3D modeling skills (Inventor and Vault preferred) with
experience developing parametrically driven models.
- Experience developing and successfully implementing engineering
standards.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Advanced training/education in engineering, leadership and
project management preferred.
- Microsoft technology and relevant design and life cycle
management software.
Physical/Mental Standards
- Ability to operate computer.
- Ability to troubleshoot (electrical/ programs/machine).
- Manual dexterity sufficient for constant use of a keyboard,
mouse, and telephone. Speech and hearing sufficient for regular
communications. Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor and
transaction documents.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform climbing, stooping, crouching, walking,
grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Executing up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to
10 pounds of force frequently, and or 10 pounds of force constantly
to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Close mental and visual requirements needed to perform work
dealing primarily with Engineering, management, and
manufacturing.
- Ability to plan, schedule, train, check and evaluate work.
